A 'SANSKRIT' BLOG NAME

Reading in news papers about bloggers and blogging, I was very much interested to be a blogger. But, how to be a blogger? I couldn’t get an idea even though my children are working in IT industry. Thanks a lot to the New Media faculty, Anil Philip Sir and Institute of Journalism, Press Club, Thiruvanathapuram, who conducts Condensed Diploma Course in Journalism.

PRATEEKA” is a Sanskrit word. It has simple meanings such as contrary, distinct, reflection, symbolic and etc. It has another meaning as progression from all sectors to every dimension. …. What does its mean?. I have much interest in seeing the covertness of the first language of mankind,’Sanskrit’.  Now I am remembering Prof. Nooranadu Revi, a Sanskrit scholar, who expired in 2000AD for giving me an insight to the intricacies of the language. All knowledge, information are glowing through ‘sabdha’(word). ’Sabdha’ illuminates ‘meaning’. Word or’ sabdha’ is God. So we have to adore, words and its meanings (sabdhartha). Hence, my Blog name is “PRATHEEKA”.

We can see relation of some basic noun words of Sanskrit with English.
Mana > mind, Manushya > man, Mathru > mother, Pitha > father,
Bhathru > brother, Swasu > sister, Gove > cow, Hridaya > heart, Budhi > brain
Sabdha > sound, Nam > name,

The River Thames, the longest river in England, may takes its name from the Sanskrit as ‘Thamas’ means ‘dark’, as its often dark and cloudy. London city of England is built over the banks of River Thames.

Who is a man? A man is who has got a mind. What is ‘mind’? Mind is cogitating and differentiates on what is wrong or what is right. After this process, he is acting. So he is called a man or ‘manushia’. We consider that animals do not have a mind. Some people not having mind also behave like animals. Sometimes I am also a mindless man, but hope to overcome this soon.
